January 28

Elizabeth flies to Barranquilla to visit a child she sponsors through Children International.

 

January 31

Josh flies from Albany, New York to Bogota, Colombia, arriving around 8:30pm local time.

 

February 1

Elizabeth flies to Bogota from Barranquilla, arriving around 9:30pm local time.

Ben rounds out the group, flying from Charlotte, NC to Bogota. He’ll arrive at 10:30pm local time.

 

February 2

We check in to the Airbnb apartment we’ll be renting while in Bogota. After that, the priority will be getting settled in and beginning the search for reliable motorcycles for our trip.

February 13

Checked out of our Airbnb apartment, went to Medellin. To minimize the risk of running into trouble on the road, we traveled during the day and stuck to major roads. Ben and Josh will probably reach out to some digital nomads living in the area to try and make some connections.

 

February 14

Arrived in Medellin

Elizabeth was separated from the group but made it to the original destination of a converted farmhouse in the town of Salento.

Ben and Josh stayed in the town of Padeira.

Ben and Josh traveled to Cali.

 

February 22

Elizabeth arrived in Cali.

 

February 21 – 24

Visit Cali.

 

February 25

Ben & Elizabeth leave Cali. Josh will leave the following afternoon or on the 26th.

 

February 25 – 27

Travel to Pasto, our final stop before crossing the border into Ecuador.

Ben and Elizabeth leave Pasto, and prepare for the border crossing into Ecuador. Travel to Quito

Josh left Pasto and traveled to Quito

 

March 7

Elizabeth travels to Banos, Ecuador.

 

March 9

Ben and Josh travel from Quito to Tena, Ecuador. In Tena, the plan is to try Ayahuasca and do some whitewater rafting.

 

March 11

Elizabeth leaves Quito and joins Ben and Josh in Tena. She decides not to do the Ayahuasca, along with Ben. The whitewater rafting is tentative.

Explore the Quito, the capital of Ecuador. We plan to check out some nearby active volcanoes while we’re at it.

 

March 15 – 16

Arrive in Baños, Ecuador.

 

March 20 – 26

We hit the road for our first extended trip. We’ll be traveling a little more than 1,000 miles to get to our next destination.

 

March 26

We arrive in Lima, Peru and recover from being on the road for a week.

 

April 3 – 8

Time to hit the road again! We’ll be traveling to Cusco, the city closest to Machu Picchu.

 

April 8 – 17

We’ll be staying in Cusco primarily and will visit Machu Picchu.

Travel to our final destination, Iquique! IQQ is a free trade zone, so we will be selling our beloved bikes here.

Elizabeth flies home.
